Dai Ichi Tops Inglis Christmas Thoroughbred Sale
Breednet - Media Release - Friday, 5 December 2008
Group 3 placed Fuji Kiseki mare Dai Ichi topped proceedings at today’s Inglis Sydney Christmas Thoroughbred Sale, which attracted strong competition across the board.
In all, 143 horses sold today at an excellent clearance rate of 91.7%, with the sale grossing just short of $1million. The online interest was again a feature, with 27% of today’s lots attracting an Internet bid.
Dai Ichi, runner-up in the G3 SAJC Sires Produce Stakes, sold to Victoria’s Northern Lodge for $115,000.
The mare, who is a granddaughter of Caulfield Cup winner Imposera, was sold carrying a positive test to first season Darley stallion Bernardini.
She was offered for sale by Rothwell Park Thoroughbreds (as agent), who had a very good sale, selling each of the top four lots.
Fusaichi Pegasus mare Princess Bayley (from the former top Danehill mare Rose Of Dane) sold for $65,000 to be the second highest priced lot, while Apocrypha, a daughter of Octagonal from the VRC Oaks winner Tributes, made $46,000.
Both sold to DGR Thoroughbred Services.
“It was encouraging to see such a strong sale today,” Inglis Bloodstock Director Jonathan D’Arcy said.
“Our Inglis Bloodstock representatives reported a higher than normal demand with enquiries for this sale.”
The focus shifts to Melbourne next Friday, with the final Inglis sale of the calendar year, where 167 lots are scheduled to be sold at the Inglis December Thoroughbred Sale, beginning from 11am at Oaklands, December 12.
