Seventh Winner for Fastnet Rock
Tara Madgwick - Friday, 15 May 2009
Champion sprinter Fastnet Rock had his seventh Australian winner at Kyneton on Friday when the Peter Moody trained filly Sleek Anitra scored a stylish debut victory in the 1100 metre juvenile maiden.
Sleek Anitra settled just off the pace for Luke Nolen and when switched into clear running in the straight she motored to the line to defeat the speedy Al Maher filly Lady Gaga by a neck with two and a half lengths back to the third horse.
A $270,000 purchase for the Rockmount Syndicate from the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Sleek Anitra (pictured as a yearling) was consigned for sale by Coolmore Stud and is from the stakes-placed mare Citidevil (NZ).
A regular visitor to Coolmore, Citidevil had a yearling filly by Choisir make $50,000 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale earlier this year and was covered by him again last spring.
Sleek Anitra is the seventh Australian winner for Fastnet Rock, who is the sire of nine individual stakes horses so far from his first crop led by the Group Three winner Wanted.
Coolmore based Fastnet Rock has had his service fee reduced for this spring from $82,500 down to $60,500.
