Mill Park Adelaide Magic

The Inglis Premier Yearling Sale might be taking centre stage this week in Melbourne, but the following week the action will move to Adelaide for the 2009 Magic Millions Yearling Sale (March 9, 10 & 12) and South Australia’s leading nursery Mill Park will return to their home state with a quality draft of 13 youngsters including a half-sister to last year’s Adelaide sale-topper.

“Overall the entire draft is a very good group of horses as we like to support the local sale as best we can and ideally you aim to have a selection of nice horses for both Melbourne and Adelaide, “ said Peter Watson.

This is a part of our ongoing series of articles leading up to the 2009 sales and the focus this week is on the 2009 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale (March 1- 4), where we will attempt to highlight five yearlings that ON PAPER at least, appeal as being suitable for a specific goal and this week we’re looking for a filly with a pedigree and some residual value.

With increased participation from interstate vendors the quality and diversity has risen markedly at Premier in recent years reflected in the rise in average from $48,712 in 2004 to $84,353 last year.

Premier Colt Leads Juvenile Top 20

How fitting that on the eve of the 2009 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale we now have a graduate of that very sale sitting atop the Racenet Ratings Juvenile Top 20 following the win of Exceed and Excel colt Reward for Effort in last Saturday’s Group One MRC Blue Diamond Stakes.

A $190,000 purchase from the Basinghall Farm draft for Dynamic Syndications, Reward for Effort has done little wrong in his three starts to date and while many doubted his ability to beat either Real Saga or Rostova last Saturday, he proved that if you are fit, well and in the race, you can indeed win.
