Group One Glory of a Golden Rose

The $1million STC Golden Rose will be run at Rosehill next Saturday for the first time as a Group One event, so we thought now would be the time to have a look at the top chances and see how this race has evolved to change the face of our Sydney Spring Carnival.

The $2 million Report Card
The win last Friday at Scone of $2million ‘return to vendor’ colt Leicester Square (Redoute’s Choice x Lavishly) cast the spotlight on the pointy end of the yearling market which in the bloodstock boom years 2006 – 2008 exploded out of all proportion.

In 2006, we had 19 yearlings sell for $1million or upwards at major Australasian sales followed by 30 in 2007 and 32 in 2008, with a sharp drop back to reality this year with just 12 cracking the magical sum.
