Keeneland Slump - Could it Happen Here?

It’s been impossible to ignore the dismal figures generated at this year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale, but astute Aussie bloodstock agent Vin Cox who was in Kentucky for the first week of the sale is confident the Australian bloodstock industry can avoid a correction of this magnitude.


One of only four yearlings to sell for more than $1million at the world's biggest yearling sale was this colt by Storm Cat from Fleet Indian that made $2,050,000.

“The American economy is in a far worse state than ours and there is a general overwhelming sentiment of negativity over there that we certainly don’t have here,” said Vin Cox.

Victoria Derby - The Dance They Choose to Dodge

Worth a whopping $1,5 million in prizemoney the Group One VRC Victoria Derby has again failed to attract the interest of connections of many of our leading three year-old colts.

"Increasingly, connections of the top class colts are shying away from the Derby, lessening the quality of our spring Blue Riband and leaving it to the dead set stayers such as recent winners Rebel Raider, Kibbutz and Efficient."
