Prosperous Times for Inglis Juveniles

Media Release - Sunday May 25

The Gerald Ryan trained Time For War continued the prosperous Australian season for Inglis sold juveniles with an all the way victory in the Group 2 BRC Sires' Produce Stakes on Saturday.

Time for WarThe Brisbane win gave Inglis graduates a clean sweep of the various Sires' Produce Stakes on Australia's east coast for 2013/14 following the wins of Peggy Jean and Zululand in the Gr.1 ATC Sires' Produce Stakes and Gr.2 VRC Sires' Produce Stakes respectively earlier this year.

Time For War (Snitzel x Lady Zabelia)has been hard to handle at times in the past, but the youngster was on his best behaviour for jockey Tye Angland down from Hong Kong. The colt jumped straight to the front from his inside barrier and sped over the 1350m in a slick 1:18.75 seconds.

Fellow Inglis graduate Brazen Beau made great ground from midfield, but Time For War had half a length to spare over his rival on the line. Looks Like The Cat was another length away in third place.

"He is a real Jekyll and Hyde horse. We knew after he won the Pago Pago Stakes in Sydney during the autumn he was a handy horse, but he can do a few things wrong in his races. The real Time for War stood up today," said Gerald Ryan's stable foreman Sterling Alexio.

Bred by Arrowfield Group Pty Ltd & Klawervlei Stud, Time For War was a $56,000 purchase by Darby Racing from Arrowfield's draft at the 2013 Inglis HTBA Scone Yearling Sale.

Time For War is raced by S G Darby, G C Bachell, G Lui, G F Doyle, W G Keen, M W Powell, P C Beyerman, S L Jimmieson, T A Mesite, R A Crisp, D J Rimmer, Mrs M L Orcher, I F Rose & Bush To Beach Racing (Mgr: R C Merryfull).

The colt has earned over $385,000 from five starts and is the first ever horse to complete the Group 2 double of the ATC Pago Pago Stakes / BRC Sires' Produce Stakes.

Connections will sit down to decide whether Time For War steps up to the Group 1 JJ Atkins in a fortnight, and thus a rematch with Brazen Beau.

"He switched on today and now we will have to see how he pulls up before we make a final decision about whether to run him in the Group One JJ Atkins Stakes, as it's over 1600m," added Alexio.

Time For War and Brazen Beau are two of nine individual Inglis sold juveniles to win Group races in Australia this current season. The others are Mossfun, Peggy Jean, Zululand, Believe Yourself, Boomwaa, Nayeli and Moonovermanhattan.

Inglis graduates also scored wins at stakes level in Melbourne and Sydney on Saturday; La Amistad at Randwick and Lonhspresso at Flemington.

Lonhspresso (Lonhro x As Simple As That), a $80,000 purchase by Darren Dance's Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock from the 2010 Inglis Australian Select Weanling Sale, won the Listed VRC Straight Six over 1200m at Flemington for Darren Weir, Michelle Payne, Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock Pty Ltd (Mgr: D P Dance) and Bungan Street Thoroughbreds Pty Ltd.

La Amistad (Redoute's Choice x Tugela), a three-quarter-sister to Makybe Diva that was offered at the 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling, was a dominant winner of the Listed ATC WJ McKell Cup over 2400m at Randwick for jockey James McDonald, trainers Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes and owners Makybe Racing & Breeding Syndicate (Mgrs: T M & Mrs D A Santic), G P I Racing Syndicate (Mgr: G P Ingham) & M D Sullivan.
