Cosmic Endeavour Adds to Inglis Group One Haul

Cosmic Endeavour claimed the final Group 1 race of the 2013/14 Australian racing season, which has been another stellar 12 months for graduates of Inglis sales.

Cosmic EndeavourThe Gai Waterhouse trainedCosmic Endeavour (Northern Meteor x Crevette)was sent out favourite for today's Tatteralls Tiara at Eagle Farm and after a textbook ride by Tommy Berry the filly proved too good for her opposition.

Inglis graduates have starred at the highest level during the current season with wins in Group 1 races from 1000m to 2500m, such as the Lightning Stakes, Golden Slipper, Australian Guineas, WS Cox Plate, Caulfield Cup and three Derbies (Victoria, South Australia and Queensland).

Bred by Mrs CB Remond, Cosmic Endeavour was a $230,000 purchase for owners Don & Judy Kelly from Willow Park Stud's draft at the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Willow Park offered six fillies at the 2012 Easter Sale – five are winners, including Group 1 victors Cosmic Endeavour and Bounding, plus Group 3 winner Jazz Song.

Cosmic Endeavour has really come into her own this year winning the Gr.2 ATC Sapphire Stakes, RL Inglis Guineas and Gr.2 BRC Dane Ripper Stakes in the lead up to Saturday's triumph. The three-year-old filly has netted over $1 million for her connections during her racing career to date.

"She's a very tough filly who has had a long campaign but has kept improving every start. It's great for Don and Judy, who have been great supporters of the stable," said Adrian Bott, racing manager for Gai Waterhouse.

The daughter of Northern Meteor is the second Inglis Guineas winner to venture straight to the Brisbane winter carnival and to Group 1 success. The other was Sincero, which won the Stradbroke Handicap in 2011 four weeks after his Inglis Guineas win.
