The
oldest Northern Hemisphere bred progeny of champion sire Fastnet Rock are now
three year-olds and are increasingly making their presence felt with improving filly
Palace taking out the Listed Cairn Rouge Stakes at Killarney in Ireland overnight.
Trained by Aidan O'Brien for the Coolmore partnership of Michael Tabor, Derrick
Smith and Mrs John Magnier, Palace took the mile and a half contest by half a
length to land her first Black Type success.
Fifth in the Group I Irish Thousand Guineas and seventh in the Group I Epsom
Oaks, Palace appreciated the drop in grade to post her second win from seven
starts.
Palace is a sibling to stakes-winners Furner's Green, Mystical Lady and Lady
Lupus being from unraced Rainbow Quest mare Lady Icarus, a daughter of champion
filly Sonic Lady.
Palace is the 63rd stakes-winner for Fastnet Rock, whose fee this year
is listed as private by Coolmore.
