First Winner for Red Arrow

Mark Smith - Sunday July 20
Making his fourth trip to the races, Tipsy On Red opened his wining account in an 1100 metre handicap at Port Augusta on Sunday to become the first winner for Blue Gum Farm's Red Arrow.

Ridden by Clare Lindop for Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas, Tipsy On Red defeated Atlantis (Domesday) by a half-neck with Southern Sea (Sebring) a short-half-head back in third.

A $15,000 purchase from the second session of the 2013 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling sale, Tipsy On Red (pictured as a yearling) is the first foal of the 4-time winning Danewin mare Tipsy Piggy whose granddam Casamurrae is a three-quarter sister to English 1000 Guineas winner On The House.

A Grade 3 winner at Hollywood Park and stakes-placed in Australia, Red Arrow is a son of influential stallion Red Ransom out of the Blue Diamond Stakes heroine Lady Jakeo (Last Tycoon) who also produced the top-class Hong Kong performer Able Choice (Dehere).

Red Arrow covered 43 mares at Blue Gum Farm last year at a fee of $8,800.
