Patinack Farm Fees for 2014

Media Release - Monday July 21
Patinack Farm will stand dual G1 winners LOPE DE VEGA and MONACO CONSUL, top bracket Second Season Sire MURTAJILL (3rd by Individual Winners) and the prodigiously talented TRUSTING at our Sandy Hollow property in the Hunter Valley for the 2014 season.

Lope de VegaG1 French Guineas (1600m) & Derby (2100m) hero LOPE DE VEGA (Shamardal) will head the roster.

The Ballylinch Stud shuttler has enjoyed tremendous success with his first crop runners in Europe. Lope de Vega is responsible for 9 individual winners and a further 6 placegetters from his first 20 runners.

His victories coming in France (4 Runners/3 Winners), Great Britain (10/3), Ireland (5/2) and Italy (1/1).

Debutant winners Belardo and Flaming Spear look top shelf and hold entries in the G2 Gimcrack Stakes and G1 National Stakes respectively, while Via Via and Dubai Breeze have both been entered for the G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes.

15 Lope de Vega 2YO's hold entries for rich events at The Curragh, Doncaster,\ Newmarket, Redcar and York in the coming months, a clear indication that there are some exciting times ahead for the stallion.

Lope de Vega covered 116 mares in Australia last season and we look forward to his
arrival at Sandy Hollow on the 20th of August.

A dual G1 winner on the racetrack in his own right, MONACO CONSUL was a truly gifted individual. Paul Moroney selected the son of High Chaparral as a yearling and the highly respected judge rates him as one of the best and toughest horses he has been involved with.

The Spring Champion and VRC Derby winner had his first crop yearlings hit the sales ring this season with some pleasing results; $55,000 (QTIS), $50,000 (New Zealand Select), $40,000 (Inglis Classic) and $40,000 (Perth Magic Millions) from limited numbers offered at auction.

The stallionʼs progeny look a lot more forward than one would expect from a Classic winner and it wouldnʼt be a surprise to see some 2YO winners in the new season.

However, it is as 3YOʼs over a mile and further that they are expected to shine and it is clear that breeders are becoming more aware of the benefits of sending their mares to sires that possess middle distance credentials.

Those looking to fight the European tried-horse invasion from dominating the rich mile/staying events in this country should look no further than this high class Australasian product.
MURTAJILL (Rock Of Gibraltar) has enjoyed an excellent season. The handsome grey's statistics - 38 individual winners of 61 races and $1,100,153 in prizemoney place him in 3rd position on the Second Season Sires Table by Winners behind Sebring and Northern Meteor.

Best performers include metropolitan winners; Abu Ben Adam, Earnest Desire,
Femmette, Grey Countess, Jolie Madeleine, Live And Lurid, Miss Gibraltar, Murtle Miss, Murtle Turtle, Our Rock OʼReilly and Seenaan. As well as debut winner Mr Missmurt, 4-time winner Patinage, 3-time winners Another Shade, Kronfeld, Murvate & Reorganise, Stakes placegetter Essieʼs Pride and Macau Listed winner Sunshine Mighty.

Murtajill is earning a reputation as a real "bread and butter sire" and trainers are more than happy to have one of his tough and hardy sons or daughters occupy a box in their stable.

The prodigiously talented TRUSTING (Tale Of The Cat) was a debut 2YO winner over 1200m, before showcasing his immense ability when as a 3YO he defeated open aged gallopers in the time-honoured G2 Warwick Stakes (1400m).

Trusting then recorded the first of his Group 1 placings when an unlucky runner-up to Denman in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill to establish himself as one of the best of a generation that included the likes of So You Think, Denman and Starspangledbanner.

He trained on to win the G2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) and G2 Hill Stakes (2000m) at weight-for-age and is credited with five Group 1 placings; Golden Rose (1400m), Epsom Handicap (1600m), George Main Stakes (1600m), Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) and Kingston Town Classic (1800m) with earnings of $935,600.

The stallion's oldest progeny will become yearlings on the 1st of August and have impressed breeders with their size, bone and natural muscle. They are very much in the mould of their enormously talented sire.
