Queensland Derby winner Sonntag was snapped up as tried horse from last year's August Sale and his vendor Darley are set to offer another quality 23 lots in 2014.

"It is going to be another big August Sale with a first season stallion parade followed by the sale of broodmares, stallion nominations, yearlings and racing stock. All horse enthusiasts are welcome to Oaklands next month," said Peter Heagney, Inglis Director.

Stallions set to stand their first season at stud in Victoria that will be paraded from 10am before the start of the sale include Fighting Sun, Fiorente, Marwingo, Polanski, Unusual Suspect, War and Unencumbered.CLICK HEREfor information sheet.

The August Thoroughbred Sale will then get underway at 10:30am with 78 broodmares, followed by six stallion nominations, one stallion prospect, four yearlings, eight unbroken stock, 55 race fillies and then 43 race colts and geldings.

Breeding stock entered includes mares in foal to Sebring, Smart Missile, Skilled, Turffontein, All American, Squamosa, Wanted, Bel Esprit, Star Witness, Duporth, Danerich, Artie Schiller, Ilovethiscity, Statue Of Liberty, Hard Spun, Domesday, Reward For Effort and Von Costa de Hero.

Stallion nominationsto Equiano, Fiorente, Helmet, Starspangledbanner, Unencumbered and Written Tycoon have been generously donated to be auctioned following the broodmares. All proceeds from the stallion nominations (Lots 79 to 84) will go to supporting the Victorian breeding industry through Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria (TBC).

Group 3 winning stallion prospect Direct Charge will be offered as Lot 85 at the August Sale.

SonntagDarley have 23 race fillies, colts and geldings to be sold as Lots 144 to 166. They include Group 3 winner Proverb, stakes placed filly Sakitto and many other well performed, lightly raced or young unraced prospects.

Henry Dwyer picked out Sonntag from Darley's draft at last year's August Sale for $58,000. The three-year-old delivered the young trainer his first Group 1 victory only 10 months later when winning the $500,000 Queensland Derby.

"As a young trainer it is imperative to get winners on the board early so heading to the Inglis August Thoroughbred Sale was a logical option. There's normally a good number of quality tried horses and after going through the catalogue Sonntag was one that stood out - he had good form in three runs for Darley and gave me the impression he could develop into a nice staying type. We're obviously now very happy with our $58,000 investment and will certainly head back to future Inglis tried horse sales," said Dwyer.
