Inheriting the crown from his sire Danehill, Drumbeats'
sire Redoute's Choice is still the king of Australian sires.
In the last twelve months he has hit career milestones such as siring 115
stakes winners, 24 individual Group One winners the most recent being Champion
Sprinter Lankan Rupee and now he is shuttling overseas covering an exceptional
book of blueblood mares at the Aga Khan's Haras de Bonneval in France which
will only further his dominance.
Redoute's Choice is an Australian legend, but is also building a legacy through
the deeds of his sire sons.
12 sire sons of Redoute's Choice have already left stakes winners – the oldest
include Snitzel, Stratum and Not A Single Doubt who have all sired more than 20
stakes winners each.
Group stakes winning son of Redoute Choice 'Drumbeats' standing at Lyndhurst
Queensland is NOT only the best performed Redoute's to stand in Queensland, he
is also the best bred, backed by incredulous statistics from a magical cross.
The Redoutes /Last Tycoon cross is currently enjoying amazing success and results
in a duplication of the great mare Best In Show, producing an incredible 31
winners from 34 runners including 10 stakes-winners.
Drumbeats also has an impressive female family featuring champion filly Arborea
with desirable physical attributes that will give him a real advantage to
improve his mares.
Recently the question was posed to Lyndhurst Stud principals Jeff and Griff
Kruger on 'how does Lyndhurst keep coming up with stallions that are so
successful from generation to generation of the Krugers?
Jeff answered this by saying, "My family try to see forward. In the fifties
Smokey Eyes bought the Stardust blood to Australia before Star Kingdom and that
really helped establish Lyndhurst as a Australian thoroughbred leader.
"After that the next pinnacle was that my grand father Percy noticed how well
the Northern Dancer blood was going in Europe and thought that it had to come
to Australia eventually so he reasoned it was best to be first to stand a stallion
by him so he and Ted Kruger imported Grand Chaudiere in the Seventies.
"Then when my father Merrell was in charge in the eighties, he reasoned that
Godswalk who was the only shuttle stallion that was coming to Australia at the
time had a couple of very good 2 year olds, one was 'Provideo', back in England
and he believed that if you could get a Godswalk stallion with a Nijinsky dam
line that would be a new success, so he imported Celestial Dancer who went on
to break world records for winners to runners, over 600.
"In the Nineties I liked Sequalo as he was a colonial sire with an English
sprint background to outcross from Star Kingdom and Northern Dancer.
"Griff and I both knew the next step was to buy into the phenomenal Danehill
blood and we picked well with the Hong Kong Sprinter Hidden Dragon."
Griff picks up the story.
"By 2010 we could see Redoutes Choice sire sons emerging as a more significant
force than seen in a long time.
"We both agreed if we were to stand a son of Redoutes Choice he would have to
be a significant animal. Drumbeats was the best performed Group winner at the
time but more importantly he carries the double cross of the world important
broodmare Best In Show and the immensely successful Last Tycoon blood cross,
add in his Group winning female line then match that with his stature and he is
probably the best bred and performed package ever to stand at Lyndhurst!"
Drumbeats will have his first runners in the new season and stands at a fee of $7,700.
