Stakes Success for Celebrity Miss

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday July 30
What started as a good day at Belmont for WA based owners Bob and Sue Peters with a debut win for their expensive purchase Silverstream ended an even better one when their homebred mare Celebrity Miss claimed her first Black Type success in the Listed WATC HG Bolton Sprint.

Celebrity Miss - courtesy Perth RacingPrepared by Grant Williams, as is Silverstream, five year-old More Than Ready (USA) mare Celebrity Miss was in top form with two wins from her past three starts and turned in a career best performance to win the 1200 metre sprint by a length as favourite.

Celebrity Miss has won eight of 17 starts earning nearly $240,000 in prizemoney and becomes the 129th stakes-winner for Vinery Stud's stalwart sire More Than Ready.

A half-sister to Group II WATC Karrakatta Plate winner Confront, Celebrity Miss is one of six winners from the Peters' former star mare Miss Margaret, who won the Group I VRC Chrysler Stakes and SAJC South Australian Oaks.

Miss Margaret was retired from stud duties in 2012, but Mr and Mrs Peters still have a number of her close relations to breed on with including Group I WATC WA Derby winner Dreamaway, who is a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Celebrity Miss.

Dreamaway is due to foal for the first time this spring to Congrats (USA).
