Best On Breeding

Mark Smith - Thursday July 31

A new season dawns and the maroon and white of Sheikh Mohammed makes way for the royal Blue of Godolphin but it will be a low key unveiling down at Kembla Grange on Saturday.

Making his career debut is the Commands colt Attainment a son of the well-related Irish River mare Song Of Success (USA).

Though she never made a race start, Song Of Success (USA) is a sister to Slip Stream a Group II winner in Germany and placed in the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly and the Group II Dante Stakes at York.

Song Of Success is also a half-sister to Porte Bonheur (Hennessy) a Grade II winner in America and to the French stakes-winner Banafsajee (Pleasant Colony) the dam of Listed winner Banksia (Marju).

Another half-sister to Song Of Success who has made an impact in Australia is the Rahy mare Grilse the dam of Group 1 Coolmore Classic winner Alverta (Flying Spur) and the dual Group III winner Aerobatics (Exceed And Excel).

The granddam of Song Of Success is the champion filly It's In The Air one of the best performers by the legendary Mr Prospector.

Sadly, Song Of Success (USA) died in 2012 a few weeks after producing a sister to Attainment.

A void was left at Darley with the death of Commands earlier this month.

The hugely popular son of Danehill has two Group 1 winning sons standing at Darley, Epaulette and Skilled.
