Star Colt for the Other Invincible Son

Tara Madgwick - Friday August 1
Earlier this week we highlighted a young Irish based son of Invincible Spirit in Zebedee, who is making every post a winner in Europe this season as has I Am Invincible in Australia and at Goodwood on Thursday he featured with a colt many think may be the best two year-old of the year.

Ivawood - TwitterThe Richard Hannon trained Ivawood made it three wins in as many starts when he powered home to win the Group II Richmond Stakes by four and a half lengths.

"He was very impressive and showed a lot of speed," said winning rider Richard Hughes.

"I thought he just coped with this type of ground at Newmarket, but today he loved it. He went down like a bird on it and in the race it felt like they weren't good enough to lead him."

His trainer has Group I goals in mind for Ivawood, who has looked super impressive in winning his three starts to date in a canter.

"We will look at races like the Morny (Group I) and the Dewhurst (Group I), things like that," he said.

"He is being treated as a Guineas horse."

A stunning colt that made 220,000 guineas at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale last year, Ivawood is an interesting horse for Australian breeders as he is from a daughter of Red Ransom in Keenes Royale, a minor winning half-sister to Group II winner Berkshire from French Group I winner Kinnaird.

Given the number of mares in Australia by Red Ransom and his sire sons, a mating to Invincible  Spirit's star Australian son I Am Invincible might prove an appealing option.
