One to Watch - Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 27
The High Chaparral (IRE) x Zabeel cross has already give us six time Group I winner Dundeel, so it's no wonder Gooree Stud have a high opinion of this exciting three year-old filly, who bolted in at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Prepared by Anthony Cummings, High Above improved on her debut third at Canterbury two weeks ago to score a resounding five length win in the fillies maiden over 1400 metres.

High ChaparralShe made light of the Heavy 10 conditions to travel sweetly in second place before racing right away to win as she pleased.

High Above has always impressed her trainer, who expects the filly to measure up to the better grades as she has been entered for races such as the Group I MRC Thousand Guineas and Spring Champion Stakes.

"She could go to Newcastle for the Spring Stakes, she's hitting her form at the right time for some nice races in the spring," he said.

"She's a high quality filly. It's a matter of what steps she take from here but she's always struck us as a very good filly and I think she's up to that standard."

Another smart homebred for Gooree Stud, High Above is one of three winners from ill-fated World Event, a full sister to Group III winner Matras and half-sister to Group III winner Romantic Moon.

Still to come for World Event is a two year-old colt by Northern Meteor and a yearling full brother to high Above by High Chaparral.
