The product of a Kentucky Derby winner and a Golden Slipper
runner-up, Hallowed Crown looked every bit the blueblood with a commanding
performance in Saturday's Group III MTA NSW Run To The Rose (1200m) at
Rosehill.
Making his seasonal debut, the Gooree homebred kept his
unbeaten record intact when coming from near last under Josh Parr.
Clocking in an impressive second was Godolphin's Kumaon with
the filly Ygritte in third.
Trained by James and Bart Cummings, Hallowed Crown made a
winning career debut on the Kensington track back in March before earning his
first stakes win when downing the impressive Washington Heights in the Group
III Kindergarten stakes at Randwick on April 12.
Co-trainer James Cummings said the son of Street Sense (USA)
would make his next start in the $1 million Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) on
September 13.
"He's going to just take a nice little two weeks into the
Golden Rose now," Cummings said
"That was the perfect way to start the preparation and
he's now three from three.
"I'm sure he's now the horse they have to beat in the Golden
Rose."
Josh Parr said Hallowed Crown displayed a superior turn of
foot on a very heavy track.
"He jumped well and wanted to commit to the race, I
could have been closer but I would have been in no man's land," Parr said.
"You can put him wherever you want.
"I love a horse that can relax like that back in the
field, let the race go, track into it from the 600 (metres) and put paid to
them like that.
A half-brother to Group III winner and young Armidale Stud stallion Needs Further (Encosta de Lago), Hallowed Crown is the seventh foal of the high-class
Danehill mare Crowned Glory the winner of the Group III VRC Bloodhorse Breeders Stakes and second to Belle du Jour in the Group 1 Golden Slipper.
Her dam Significant Moment is a half-sister to Group 1
Australian Guineas winner Baryshnikov as well as Group 1 winner and super
stallion Zabeel.
Crowned Glory has a 2yo colt by Street Cry (IRE) named Claim
The Throne. She missed to Northern Meteor in 2012 and slipper her More Than
Ready (USA) foal last year.
Street Cry's Breeders' Cup Juvenile and Kentucky Derby
winner Street Sense (USA) shuttled to Darley for five seasons the last of which
was in 2012.
