The
Wyong meeting on Sunday featured a winning double for John O'Shea with Godolphin bluebloods
Entertains and Bracteate, whose top class sires Street Cry (IRE) and Medaglia D'Oro
(USA) will begin covering mares at Darley in the Hunter Valley on Monday.
First to salute was lightly raced four year-old mare Entertains, who dispensed
with maiden status when bolting clear to win by three and a half lengths over
1350 metres at her first run back from a spell.
Prominent in the stewards report at her only three previous runs when finishing
third twice and then a fourth, Entertains looked a more competent racehorse
this time around and relished the heavy conditions.
A well-bred daughter of Street Cry, Entertains is the second winner for Champion
3YO Filly Serenade Rose, a triple Group I winner, who proved her dominance with
wins in the Group I VRC Oaks and AJC Australian Oaks, a rare achievement.
Sadly for Darley, Serenade Rose died in 2011 and her last foal is three year Lonhro
old colt Minnesinger, who although he has had just one start ( a fourth at
Mornington), must be showing something as he has been entered for the Group I
MRC Caulfield Guineas and ATC Spring Champion Stakes.
Winning the very next race was the newly gelded Medaglia D'Oro three year-old
Bracteate, who scored by a length and a half over 1350 metres.
Unplaced in two previous runs in April and May, Bracteate did a good job to forge
clear and win by a length and a half over 1350 metres.
Entered for the Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas and ATC Spring Champion Stakes,
Bracteate is the third winner from three foals to race from stakes-winning Bel
Esprit mare Belcentra, who comes from the family of Group I stars such as Black
Mamba, Roman Emperor, Glorious Days and Tully Thunder.
