One
of the busiest juveniles in Europe this season has been the flashy dark
brown Kool Kompany, who was bought privately overnight by bloodstock agent Mark
Player acting for Australian bloodstock investor Neil Werrett of Black Caviar
fame.
Offered at the Doncaster Bloodstock September Sale, Kool Kompany was initially
led from the ring after passing in shy of his £730,000 reserve set by his owner
Middleham Park, but it was later revealed he had been bought by Mr Werrett and
would return for the time being to his trainer Richard Hannon.
A son of Danehill Dancer sire Jeremy, Kool Kompany has had eight starts this
season for five wins and a second with notable victories in the Group II
Curragh Railway Stakes and Maisons-Laffitte Prix Robert Papin.
At his two most recent runs, Kool Kompany was a brave half-length second to
Dick Whittington in the Group I Phoenix Stakes at The Curragh and then sixth in
the lucrative DBS Premier Yearlings Stakes at York for sales graduates.
An eye-catching dark brown with a big baldy face and three white feet, Kool
Kompany is the best of three winners from Absolutely Cool, a placed daughter of
Indian Ridge.
