Trainer Joe Pride sent the black colt to the paddock after finishing fifth in the Group III Kindergarten Stakes at Randwick on April 12.
He has won all three starts since including a pair of short course sprints at Warwick Farm on heavy tracks.
A $170,000 purchase by Jason Abraham's Champion Thoroughbreds from the Curraghmore Stud draft at the 2013 NZB Premier Yearling sale, Kuro extends his overall record to 4 wins from 6 starts for earnings of $149,050.
Pride said its toss up whether Kuro goes to Melbourne for the spring.
"He's taken a big step today," Pride said.
"I've been really happy with him and it was a big test for him today but he comes through with flying colours.
"It's a fantastic start to the preparation. We'll have a little consideration, Jason and I, what we'll do with him now, possibly a trip to Melbourne but he's only going to be better in the autumn so might put him aside."
Winning rider Blake Shinn feels there are better things in store for the son of Denman.
"He cruised in front. He's got into a strong cruising speed, got the rest chasing and was pretty dynamic, it was a fantastic win," Shinn said
"I probably could have come back a bit early and just got him out of his stride, but I just used his action. He's got a big free-striding, long looping, action and I was hard fit, got them chasing. He quickened off that and think he's a very promising horse for the future."
Bred by part-owner Nearco Stud, Kuro is the second foal of the former smart racemare Distinctive Lass, a stakes-placed daughter of Orientate (USA), who is a grand-daughter of champion sprinter Special from the family of triple Group I winner Bomber Bill.
The first foal of Distinctive Lass, Special Gemstone, ran fifth at Ararat on Friday and is yet to break her maiden after five starts. However her connections will be on good terms with themselves having spent just $10,000 to secure the daughter of Fastnet Rock at the Inglis Easter Broodmare sale in April.
Distinctive Lass has a yearling colt by Darci Brahma and was bred back to Ocean Park last year.
Kuro becomes the fourth stakes-winner for Darley Stud's Denman.
The popular son of Lonhro covered 185 mares last season at a fee of $27,500 and is currently covering at a fee of $33,000.
