Third Group 1 for Foreteller

Mark Smith - Saturday September 20
Out of the winners circle since taking the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes 12 months ago, Foreteller (IRE) gave the Chris Waller stable a memorable interstate Group 1 double on Saturday when he proved too strong for Happy Trails in Saturday's Hyland Underwood Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield.

Ridden by Glen Boss, Foreteller set off to reel in the freewheeling Crackerjack King (IRE) and just as he fought off the $51 chance he had another battle on his hands with the hard charging Happy Trails.

It was the third win at the elite level for Foreteller who captured last year's Ranvet Stakes.

Fourth in last year's Cox Plate won by Shamus Award, Foreteller will be given another chance this year along with George Main Stakes winner Sacred Falls according to Waller stable representative Justine Hales.

"It's great to see Sacred Falls win back on a good track and it's just lovely to see this horse win again," Hales said.

"Definitely, he's off to the Cox Plate now."

"He always tries, he's very honest, I was a little bit worried today because he was a bit handier than usual and I was hoping he would sprint."

"I think it was good the other horse came back a bit and he caught Happy Trails out of the corner of his eye and he kept trying."

The Juddmonte Farms-bred 8yo gelding cost Waller 100,000 guineas at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training sale and his record now stands at 11 wins 4 second and 3 third from 35 starts for earnings of $1,861,771

The son of Dansili won three in a row for former trainer David Smaga in France, culminating with success in the Prix de Suresnes at Maisons-Laffitte.

He is out of the 1993 Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Prophecy (Warning) who is also the dam of Group 2 Prix de Sandringham Stakes (G2) winner Modern Look (Zamindar) and the Listed stakes-winner Arabesque (Zafonic), the dam Gimcrack Stakes (G2) winner Showcasing (Oasis Dream) and Listed winner Camacho (Danehill).

Prophecy is a daughter of Group Three Lancashire Oaks winner Andaleeb (Lyphard), herself out of Kentucky Oaks winner Bag Of Tunes. Andaleeb's full-sister Tunaria is the granddam of Stradbroke Handicap (G1) winner Mr Baritone.
