Outstanding
New Zealand trained mare Princess Coup was a star of her time and set the sale
ring alight in 2009 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale when fetching
$3 million off the track to the bid of E Thoroughbred.
The four time Group I winning daughter of Encosta de Lago was initially sent to
Redoute's Choice in her first season at stud, but missed and Plan B was Lonhro,
who is the sire of her first foal and first winner Vanilla Princess, who
saluted at Kembla on Friday.
Retained to race for the Evergreen Rich Syndicate and given to Gai Waterhouse,
Vanilla Princess has taken time to mature and placed at her only three runs in
her first preparation last December and into January.
Resuming from a spell at Kembla in a 1200 metre maiden, she had too much
quality and forged clear for Winona Costin to win easily by two and a half
lengths as favourite.
Princess Coup has a three year-old Redoute's Choice colt called Thewizardofoz
that is also with Waterhouse, an unnamed two year-old filly by Redoute's Choice
and a yearling colt by Fastnet Rock.
She was covered again by Fastnet Rock last spring.
