20th Group I Winner for Danehill Dancer

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 20
Veteran sire Danehill Dancer (IRE) was retired from service earlier this year by Coolmore at age 21 owing to declining fertility, the Group I winning son of Danehill posting his 20th Group I winner in Canada on Sunday.

Danehill DancerPrepared by Sir Michael Stoute, four year-old entire Hillstar scored a three-quarter length win in the Group I Canadian International at Woodbine as favourite.

A Group II winner in the UK, Hillstar has won four of 15 starts and is a half-brother to Group II winner Crystal Capella from stakes-winning Mark of Esteem mare Crystal Star.

The sire of over 150 stakes-winners worldwide, Danehill Dancer excelled in both hemispheres, notably as the sire of globetrotting superstar Choisir, champion mare Private Steer, star colt and promising young sire Mastercraftsman and Epsom Oaks winner Dancing Rain.

His success was achieved from humble beginnings as he was far from popular in his early years at stud, standing initially in Australia for as little as $7,500.
