One to Watch – Mornington

Champion trainer Peter Moody combined with Contract Racing to produce our One to Watch at Mornington on Tuesday, a half-brother to Group II winners Solicit and Star of Giselle.

Three year-old Domesday gelding Ducal Castle showed real promise in his first campaign finishing second, third and fourth in smart juvenile company and earning Black Type with his third in the Listed MRC Blue Diamond Preview.

Spelled and then gelded, Ducal Castle stepped out for the first time this spring in a Benchmark 64 event over 1200 metres and picked up a $20,000 VOBIS bonus in scoring by half a length.

He is the fifth winner for Danehill (USA) stakes-winner Princesa, a three-quarter sister to Group III winner and sire Kaphero from Group I winner Kapchat.

Princesa has a yearling colt by Medaglia D'Oro and a filly foal by Golden Slipper winner Pierro.
