Leading the Way!

Media Release - Wednesday October 22
As Queensland begins to surge ahead with increased prizemoney and a wonderfully reinvigorated QTIS system, the 2014/15 racing season has started in super fashion for the stallions standing at the state's leading farm, Glenlogan Park.

With just over two and half months of the new season now put behind them, the Glenlogan sires continue to do what they have done for many years now – and that is to lead the way within the state.

Currently Glenlogan Park sires provide 4 of the top 5 positions on the general sires list within Queensland.

Jet SpurJet Spur has started the year in sensational fashion and heads the Leading Sires table with 25 winners and over $612,000 in progeny earnings thus far.

In recent weeks the popular stallion has unearthed a couple of very promising 3YO's in the undefeated Beau Jet and the fast finishing Ten Speed. Both are the veterans of only 2 lifetime starts each, however there is little question the Steve O'Dea and Tony Gollan trained pair have very, very bright futures.

Another eye-catching Jet Spur to grab the attention in recent times was the highly talented Black Jet. The Liam Birchley gelding resumed just over a week ago after a layoff and has now been sent to Victoria to tackle some of the races during their rich carnival. He kicks off his southern campaign this Friday night at Moonee Valley as the starting point for better races over the coming months.

JET SPUR'S very promising 3YO's Beau Jet and Ten Speed look to have terrific futures!

Sitting second on the Leading Qld Sires table at present with 19 winners and over $542,000 in prizemoney is the wonderfully consistent winner-getter Falvelon.

Year after year Falvelon has proven his mettle and his talents as a sire again came to the fore as recently as last Saturday when his very promising 2YO filly Madotti became one of the first youngsters to be virtually assured of a start in next year's $2 million Magic Millions Classic.

With over $86,000 already in the bank for the Matt Dunn prepared youngster, she looks to have an exceptional future and is yet another example of the quality of horse available to owners, trainers and buyers at each year's Magic Millions QTIS Sale held on the Coast in March.

The now deceased Sequalo fills the third position on the Leading Sires table with $529,000, only marginally ahead of five-time Champion Qld Sire Show A Heart with 20 winners and almost $511,000 in earnings. Both sires have nothing left to prove and the history books will show that the pair are two of the very best to have ever stood in Queensland.

However, a young stallion with the world at his feet is hoping to test that pair over time and, with just two full crops to race, Real Saga looks guaranteed to challenge for the Champion Sire title in the future judging by his already significant impact!

Despite having far less runners than any of his rivals above him on the sire tables, the two-time winning Champion Qld Juvenile Sire has already amassed 17 winners and almost $470,000 this season and is sure to be ranking at the top of the Leading General Sires tables much sooner rather than later!

One of the most promising of those 17 victors is the Steve O'Dea trained 3YO filly A Day To Remember.

Having saluted in ultra-impressive style on debut at the Sunshine Coast a few weeks ago, O'Dea elected to let her have one more "kill" before heading to the big smoke and therefore he sent her to the Gold Coast last Saturday.

Anyone who saw her performance on that day was left in no doubt they had just witnessed something very special indeed as the filly pounced from last on the turn to completely demolish her opponents. The effort was so impressive it prompted well-respected race caller Steve Hawkins to declare: "This could be a superstar!", and "I think the last time we saw a filly of that quality race at the Gold Coast it was (subsequent G1 winner) Mon Meki!", and finally "That is the real deal!".

REAL SAGA looks to have a star on his hands with A Day To Remember!

The real deal! Just like her sire! And just like his breeding barn mates at Glenlogan Park!
