One to Watch - Ballarat

Tara Madgwick - Thursday October 23
Bylong Park Thoroughbreds have been in the news this week courtesy of the arrival of full sisters for their star graduates Mosheen and Driefontein and they were also responsible for our One to Watch at Ballarat on Thursday.

PentireGroup I trainer Danny O'Brien and Sean Buckley's Ultra Thoroughbreds had some luck at this time last year winning the Cox Plate with Shamus Award and they combined to win the opening event with three year-old Pentire (GB) filly Snake Charmer.

Having her first start, Snake Charmer travelled just behind the leaders and surged home out wide off the turn to win the 1000 metre maiden by a length.

A $120,000 Magic Millions purchase for Danny O'Brien from the Bylong Park Thoroughbreds draft, Snake Charmer is the third winner for stakes-placed Flying Dansino, a half-sister to stakes-winner Zagreb from the family of Group I winner Leica Smile.

Flying Dansino has no yearling for the sales this year, but has foaled this spring producing a filly by Hinchinbrook.
