Thorn Park's Suavito Breaks Through

Mark Smith - Saturday October 25

After four minor placings at stakes level, the Nigel Blackiston-trained Suavito finally broke through with a dominant display in Saturday's Group III Eliza Park International Stakes (1600m).

Ridden by Damien Oliver, Suavito swooped down the outside to defeat Precious Gem (Econsul) by one and a quarter lengths with You're So Good (Savabeel) back in third.

The daughter of Thorn Park (pictured) takes her overall record to 4 wins, 4 seconds and 3 thirds from 14 starts for earnings of $331,550.

"She's always raced against good horses and this was something she really deserved," Blackiston said.

"We'll have a look at a race like the (Group III) Matriarch Stakes on the last day of the carnival (November 8)."

"She was very unlucky her last few starts she's a tough little filly but she dust keeps trying," the winning horseman said.

"We've tried her over more distance and she'll get the mile.

"We'll put a nomination in for the Myers (Myer Classic) and see what happens.

"She loves it here. It was a good run and it's fantastic to see her win."

Bred by IDL Racing, Suavito is the first foal of the unraced High Chaparral (IRE) mare Queen Cha Cha a half-sister to the multiple Group II placed Pinot Grigio (O'Reilly).

Queen Cha Cha's dam Chablis (Kingmambo) is a half-sister to Woman in White, the dam of Specter (Nadeem) winner of the Listed VRC Henry Bucks Stakes.
