The purchase of Tyreel Stud by Wallings Bloodstock earlier this year aroused much speculation within the industry as to plans for its future, with the new ownership now looking to press forward and take this historic farm to further success as a commercial breeding operation.
Having already bred and been home to many of the past champions of racing, Tyreel is well established as a reliable source of high quality bloodstock.
In recent months, Tyreel consigned yearling drafts have produced a wave of talented performers led by Amicus (3f Fastnet Rock x Gold Chant, bred by Makybe), winner of the Group I MRC Thousand Guineas.
Another notable stakes-performer bred and sold by Tyreel is Tahni Dancer (3f Sebring x Tahni Girl), while other winners include: Wilderness (3c Fastnet Rock x Gold Anthem) $2.8 million dollar colt consigned to Easter 2012 by Tyreel on behalf of Makybe Stud; The Conglomerate (3c Lonhro x Republic Lass) bred and consigned to Melbourne Premier 2012 by Tyreel and San Padre (3c Teofilo (IRE) x San Cristobel) bred and consigned to Melbourne Premier 2012.
Tyreel is a name that has always been synonymous with quality and Wallings Bloodstock are looking to continue down that path having made some astute bloodstock purchases in the past 12 months.
A high class broodmare band is being established and already consists of Whisper Bay, a stakes winning half-sister to the dam of Group I winner Hurtle Murtle; Pinocchio, a winning sister to champion miler Racing to Win; Elsewhere a half-sister to Caulfield Guineas winner Long John; multiple stakes-winner Happy Hippy; Group III placed Fastnet Rock mare Family Crest and San Cristobel, a winning Fastnet Rock daughter of Group III winner Galapagos Girl.
The most notable of the recent acquisitions by the team is Crafty Irna, a $610,000 purchase from the Widden draft at the 2014 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale.
A Group III winner by Starcraft from Group I winner Zirna, Crafty Irna was a classy performer that won over $460,000 in prizemoney.
The stylish bay has foaled an exceptional Sebring colt this spring, who promises to be one of the next generation stars for Tyreel.
With the breeding season now in full swing the farm is busy nurturing new arrivals and breeding both Tyreel's mares and those of the farm's many new clients.
With new ownership comes a new direction and a unique opportunity to become involved in a 'close to Sydney' boutique operation where quality bloodstock and quality care is at the forefront.
Tyreel will continue in the tradition of producing the highest quality yearling drafts and is inviting new clients to join and become a part of what will surely be a bright future.
