A seven year-old gelding by Good Journey (USA), Happy Trails is a big fan of Flemington having already won the Group I VRC Turnbull Stakes and Emirates Stakes at the world famous venue and again produced his A game on his favourite track.
Partnered by Damien Oliver, Happy Trails was ridden patiently back in the field before unwinding a long sustained run to reel in Group I ATC Epsom Handicap winner He's Your Man to post a last stride win in the 2000 metre weight-for-age feature.
"He's a ripper, what a great horse," said Damien Oliver.
"I'm just so happy for Paul Beshara and all the owners."
An $11,000 purchase for his trainer from the Mill Park draft at the 2009 Magic Millions Yearling Sale in Adelaide, Happy Trails has the overall record seven wins and 14 placings from 45 starts with prizemoney of $2.8 million.
"He's won all three of his Group Ones in photos, and been beaten in a few too," said a delighted Paul Beshara.
"He should have won a couple of Cox Plates, I reckon he's the best weight-for-age horse in Australia, maybe the world!
"He's such an accommodating horse. He gives you his heart."
The best of 11 stakes-winners by Cornerstone Stud based sire Good Journey, Happy Trails was raised at Mill Park for his breeders Brenton and Liz Parker.
He is the best of four winners from Perugino (USA) mare Madame Flurry, a half-sister to stakes-winner Lake Villa and to the dam of Group III winner Royal Sash, who is also proving a notable broodmare as the dam of Group III winners Sabatini and Vivi Veloce.
Madame Flurry has already foaled this spring producing a colt by All Too Hard, pictured at Sledmere Stud and has a yearling colt by Bernardini (USA).
