Familiar Colours on a Well Bred Filly

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday November 19
Hugh Bowman enjoyed more than one Group I victory on champion filly Streama carrying the colours of her breeder Geoffrey Coghlan and it was one of Streama's relations that put him in the winner's circle at Canterbury on Wednesday in those very same colours.

DenmanA homebred for the Coghlan family as was Streama, three year-old Denman filly Viascon was transferred to Ron Quinton following the sad passing of Guy Walter earlier this year.

Not far away in her three runs this preparation, Viascon was able to make full use of gate one to jump in front and hold the fence, enjoying a sweet run in transit before dashing up along the inside to score a neck win in the 1250 metre maiden.

"She'd drawn wide at her last few runs and had to go back, but barrier one makes a big difference," said Quinton.

Viascon is the third winner from three foals to race from Tessamo, a metro winning half-sister to four time Group I winner and $2.6 million earner Streama, who was retired to stud this year.

Her sire Denman has made a good start to the new season with smart stakes-winner Kuro flying his flag and has 24 entries for the 2015 Magic Millions in January.Click here to see them.
