One to Watch – Kyneton

Tara Madgwick - Friday November 21
Mark Kavanagh is a great conditioner of a Fastnet Rock, think Atlantic Jewel and Super Cool, the astute trainer producing a debut winner by the champion sire at Kyneton on Friday.

Fastnet RockThree year-old filly Loveheart Lass was sent out favourite for the 1200 metre maiden and after being allowed to find her feet by Katelyn Mallyon from a wide gate she surged home out wide from the turn to post an encouraging win.

A big filly with a long stride, she can only be improved for the run and on pedigree appeals as a candidate to run further.

A $150,000 NZB Premier purchase for her trainer from the Curraghmore Stud draft, Loveheart Lass was bred by Fairway Thoroughbreds and is the third winner from unraced Galileo mare River Dreaming (IRE), whose previous two winners are also by Fastnet Rock.

Those two colts went to Singapore and have not yet risen to any great heights, but Loveheart Lass might be third time lucky!

A grand-daughter of Arc winner and USA Horse of the Year All Along, River Dreaming was on-sold by Fairway Thoroughbreds fetching $125,000 at the 2013 Inglis Broodmare Sale and produced a filly this spring by Melbourne Cup winner Americaine (USA).
