A promising debut, a family bristling with talent and the death of a prominent mare make this an interesting read.
Prepared by Richard Collett, the daughter of Dane Shadow was beaten a length and a half by Windborne in the 1100 metre scamper and will be improved for the run.
Cinematic is from stakes-winning Success Express (USA) mare Snapshots, a daughter of Group I winner Hold That Smile and sister to top class producer Express a Smile, the dam of triple Group I winner Sea Siren, Group II winner Lady Dehere, Group III winner Oratorio and stakes-winner Discorsi.
Cinematic is also closely related to recent impressive Sydney two year-old winner Paceman, who is by Duporth from Snaps, a daughter of Snapshots.
Paceman won impressively at Rosehill for Peter and Paul Snowden and has been spelled in preparation for the Golden Slipper.
While this family is clearly on the move, it's been a week of mixed emotions at Torryburn Stud as 20 year-old Snapshots died last week after producing a filly by Fastnet Rock's brilliant Group I winning sprinter Your Song.
"She haemorrhaged shortly after foaling and couldn't be saved, but her filly is doing well with a foster nanny, so at least she has given us another filly to go on with," said Stud Manager, Reggie Blundell.
"We've had a number of foals by Your Song and all are good sorts like he is himself."
The current yearling from Snapshots, a colt by Magic Albert, will be offered by Torryburn Stud at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale as Lot 409.
"He's a good neat colt, very much a trainer's horse," said Blundell and given the way Magic Albert colts sold in New Zealand last week at the Ready to Run Sale (three averaged $200,000, all pinhooked from Australian sales), he's a youngster that will have no trouble finding a buyer.
Torryburn also have two older daughters of Snapshots in the broodmare band in Graphique and Pixels, both of whom have yearlings to be offered for sale next year.
Galileo (IRE) mare Graphique has a colt by Al Maher for Magic Millions to be offered as Lot 295 and a Pixels has a Smart Missile colt headed to Inglis Easter.
"The Al Maher colt is a very forward cracking type that is an ideal sort for the Magic Millions," said Blundell.
"Al Maher probably isn't an obvious Magic Millions sire, but physically he's the right horse for the sale."
A daughter of champion sire Zabeel, Pixels has already had two nice foals, the first, a colt by Choisir is promising three year-old winner Rib Eye.
"Rib Eye has a win and two seconds from three starts for Clinton McDonald and they bought the next colt by Bernardini so that probably tells you something," Blundell added.
