Hinchinbrook
is not the only son of champion sire Fastnet Rock represented by his first
runners this season with Three Bridges Thoroughbreds based Stryker also making
his presence felt with his first three runners all placing, two of them in
Black Type events.
The first to grace the turf was the Sean Dwyer trained Miss Loren, who finished
third in the Listed MRC Inglis Debutant Stakes on debut at Caulfield in early October behind slick colt Of the Brave and then a week later Jason Warren produced Stryking Love to finishing third on
debut at Bendigo behind subsequent stakes-winner Prompt Return.
Both fillies have shown ability and more importantly 'trainability' in getting
to the races and acquitting themselves well in their first preparation.
In New Zealand, Frank Ritchie has a very nice Stryker filly on his hands in She
is Stryking, who has been to the races twice for a first up fourth at Te Rapa
when she was slowly away and then a good third in the Listed Murdoch Newell
Stakes at Avondale.
Hampered at the 800 metre mark and beaten only a length and a half behind the
very smart Darci Brahma filly Windborne, She is Stryking is set to try her luck
again this Saturday in the Group II Wakefield Stakes over 1100 metres at
Trentham.
A $24,000 Inglis Classic purchase for her trainer from the Musk Creek Farm
draft, She is Stryking would be eligible for the $250,000 Inglis Classic in
February which may prove appealing to her connections if she races well this weekend.
A blue-blooded son of Fastnet Rock from the great Denise's Joy family, Stryker
has five
entries for the 2015 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, four of them to be
offered by Three Bridges.
Stryker also has eight
for the Inglis Classic.
