Invincible Draft for Magic Millions

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday December 16
It's two years since Yarraman Park launched young stallion I Am Invincible at the 2013 Magic Millions Yearling Sale and while good judges were keen to praise his offspring back then, few would have predicted the overwhelming success that has followed.

I Am InvincibleAt the Gold Coast in 2013, I Am Invincible had nine yearlings average $81,667 with a top price of $160,000 and in 2014 had seven average $240,000 with a top price of $440,000 and a further eight youngsters selling in Session Five at an average $80,875.

Dramatic price rises such as these don't come by chance, they are driven by demand fuelled by results and results are what I Am Invincible has delivered in spades for his supporters.

The Champion Australian First Season Sire of 2013/2014 by winners, earnings and stakes-winners, I Am Invincible is powering ahead again this year, leading the Australian Second Season Sires List with 26 winners of $1.2 million in earnings.

He is also second only to champion sire Fastnet Rock on the Leading Australian Sires of Three Year Olds List by winners.

Among those winners is star colt Brazen Beau, who won the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes and was recently bought by Darley to stand at their Victorian base when his racing career concludes next year.

"It's very satisfying to come to this sale with the bulk of your draft sired by your own stallions," said Harry Mitchell.

"I Am Invincible has done exceptionally well as everyone knows and we are thrilled with the way Hinchinbrook has started off.

"He's getting them to the track and is already one of the leading first season sires with a serious Magic Millions contender in Carriages."

Yarraman will offer 28 yearlings in total, nine of them by I Am Invincible with an obvious highlight being Lot 356, the half-sister to Magic Albert's brilliant Group I winning son Ilovethiscity from Kensington Rose.

She is the last foal from her dam, who left six winners and comes from the family of champion racehorse and sire Lonhro.

Lot 328 Filly I Am Invincible x Impressions is an interesting one being a full sister to highly promising three year-old I Am Impressed, who will be hard to beat at Rosehill this Saturday.

While I Am Invincible is now established as proven and super popular, Yarraman have another star on the rise in Snitzel's three-quarter brother Hinchinbrook , whose first runners are headed by the speedy Gai Waterhouse trained filly Carriages, winner of the $200,000 Magic Millions Clockwise Classic at Ballarat.

Below is the half-brother by I Am Invincible to Carriages to be offered as Lot 611.

The Yarraman draft features six yearlings by Hinchinbrook including:

Lot 123 Colt Hinchinbrook x Bronislava, from Group III placed Galileo (IRE) mare Bronislava, who traces in tail female line to star producer Terlingua, the dam of breed shaping sire Storm Cat.

Lot 348 Filly Hinchinbrook x Junebug is the third foal of stakes-placed Junebug, a half-sister to stakes-winner Light Sweeper and grand-daughter of dual Group I winner Heat of the Moment.

While progeny of the Yarraman based sires including Magic Albert dominate the draft of 28, there are also stunning yearlings by sires such as Commands, Exceed and Excel, Stratum, Denman and newcomers Sepoy, Smart Missile, Foxwedge and Dream Ahead (USA).

Highlights include :

Lot 61 Colt Exceed and Excel x Amber's Waltz – Second foal of Group II placed Danehill Dancer (IRE) mare Amber's Waltz, who was second in the 2010 Magic Millions 2YO Classic to Military Rose.

Lot 410 Filly Denman x M'Lady Pedrille – First foal of stakes-winning sister to Group I winner Diamond Drille and half-sister to stakes-winner Madame Pedrille, from the family of I Am Invincible.

Lot 498 Filly Foxwedge x Our Pride and Joy – First foal of a metro winning half-sister by Canny Lad to Group I winner Criterion, Group II winner Varenna Miss and stakes-winner Silently.
