First Winner for Reward for Effort

Tara Madgwick - Thursday December 18
Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes winner Reward for Effort posted his first winner at Seymour on Thursday when two year-old filly Take Pride scored a commanding debut win.

Prepared on the track by Murray Johnson, Take Pride looked a bright prospect travelling deep throughout and then forging clear to win the 1000 metre dash by nearly three lengths.

Reward for EffortPurchased for $94,000 from the Eldon Park draft out of Inglis Premier by Craig Rounsefell of Boomer Bloodstock, Take Pride will now be looking towards the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes in February.

The most expensive filly from the first crop of yearlings by Reward for Effort, she obviously has ability to match her good looks.

"Murray has had a good opinion of her for some time now and she won very impressively," said Craig Rounsefell, who bought the filly for good client Peter Murray.

"He has her in the Blue Diamond and all the good races, so it's nice to get that first win on the board."

Take Pride is the first foal of Shabtis, a winning half-sister by Elusive Quality (USA) to five time Group I winner Mummify, who has a Caulfield Cup win amongst his elite victories.

A son of champion sire Exceed and Excel, Reward for Effort stands at Chatswood Stud in Victoria and has been extremely popular with breeders covering over 500 mares in his first three seasons standing at a fee of $11,000.
