Christmas Comes Early for QTIS Horses

Media Release - Friday December 19
Christmas has well and truly arrived early for the Qld breeding and racing industry with the announcement on Friday from Racing Queensland and Magic Millions heralding a new and exciting era within the state.

December 19, 2014 will be hailed as a landmark day for Australian racing after its first ever $10 million raceday was revealed, however the announcement also included a jewel in the crown for Queensland owners, trainers and breeders the like of which has never been seen before.

A $1 million race restricted to QTIS horses only and open to all age groups!

"Enormous is the only word that can accurately describe what this will mean to all of Queensland's industry participants," Glenlogan Park's manager Steve Morley said.

"On the back of recent prizemoney boosts and the imminent implementation of an improved QTIS system, this announcement today will give a monumental lift to everyone!

"To have a state-based incentive scheme that can boast a $1 million championship race restricted solely to QTIS horses is simply outstanding!

"It is an amazing opportunity for everyone within the state to grab the ball and run with it – whether you are a breeder, a trainer or an owner, it's time to aim for the stars!

"There is no other state incentive scheme in the country that has anything close to rivalling this! It is incredible!"

Magic Millions Managing Director, Vin Cox, was just as effusive and is already looking forward to January 9, 2016.

"The combined vision of Racing Qld, in concert with Magic Millions, is a game-changer for racing in this state, for the Gold Coast and for the Australian thoroughbred industry as a whole," said Cox.

"This partnership and commitment is long-term, and one that will create momentum and motivation for the next generation of Queenslanders committing to the thoroughbred industry."

Racing Qld Chairman Kevin Dixon can feel justifiably proud of his team and their efforts as the enhancements in the last 18 months to racing and breeding within the state continue to improve under their guidance.

"Over the past 6 months we have built a strong platform with base level and feature prizemoney increases and this partnership with Magic Millions is the next phase in our vision to take Queensland racing to the world," Dixon said.

"Today's announcement is just one part of an overall program to continually progress."

The $1 million Magic Millions QTIS All-Aged Handicap is pencilled in to be run over 1300m, however the distance will be confirmed after consultation with the Qld industry.

Enormous!
