Magic Debut for Claudia

Tara Madgwick - Saturday December 20
The David Hayes and Tom Dabernig stable has been in hot form of late producing a brilliant juvenile debut winner at Flemington on Saturday in Claudia Jean, a $125,000 Magic Millions purchase for Lindsay Park Racing from the Riversdale draft.

Claudia Jean as a yearlingThe speedy bay jumped fast and was always on the pace for Jye McNeil and dashed away to win the 1000 metre scamper by more than three lengths over the Godolphin runner Bosnia.

A trip to the Gold Coast is now on the cards for the promising filly.

Claudia Jean is the fourth winner for Group II placed Zabeel mare Milzeel, a daughter of Group I winning stayer Miltak, so she's a filly that should have no trouble running 1200 metres and probably a bit beyond that as well.

The fifth two year-old winner this season for Not a Single Doubt, Claudia Jean was consigned for sale by Riversdale, who parted company amicably with the Southern Cross Breeders group of breeders last year to go their own way.

Riversdale may have two runners in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic with the David Hayes and Tom Dabernig trained filly Miss Idyllic finishing second at Rosehill to boom filly Ottoman. A daughter of Exceed and Excel, Miss Idyllic was bought for $180,000 out of the Riversdale MM draft.

The Hodges family run farm will offer 13 yearlings at Magic Millions next month including six as agent for Stratheden Stud. Click here to see them.
