A
homebred for Shadwell, foaled and raised at Yarraman Park, exciting prospect
Ertijaal made it two wins in as many starts when he opened up to win by
daylight at Turffontein in South Africa on Sunday.
A three year-old Hard Spun (USA) colt prepared by Mike de Kock, Ertijaal bolted
away to win the 2000 metre event against older horses by more than eight
lengths.
A half-brother to Dubai Group III winner Mushreq, who was also Group I placed
in South Africa and Macau stakes-winner Jazza Bell, Ertijaal is the sixth
winner for stakes-placed Jeune (GB) mare Alharir, a half-sister to the dam of
Group I winner Rewaaya from the family of Group I winners Snippets and
Forensics.
Alharir has foaled this spring producing a filly by Shadwell's Blue Diamond
winner Nadeem, who is now at stud in New Zealand.
Also winning on the same card was three year-old Encosta de Lago filly Modern
Muse, who scored over 1800 metres for Mike de Kock, her second win from five
starts.
A $110,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Form Bloodstock from the draft of Kia
Ora Stud, Modern Muse is the third winner from Redoute's Choice mare
Modellista, a full sister to Champion 2YO and dual Group I winner Fashions
Afield.
Kia-Ora will offer the current yearling from Modellista, a colt by Sebring asLot 458 at Magic Millions.
