Young
Exceed and Excel stallion Kuroshio is
to shuttle to Overbury Stud in
the UK from Darley Australia where he has just
completed his first season at stud in
Victoria with
a book of over 100 mares.
A fast and precocious sprinter that won the Group III MRC Blue Diamond Prelude
at two and Group II MVRC McEwen Stakes at three, Kuroshio is a full brother to
stakes-winners Agulhas and Believe 'n' Succeed, who is the dam of Group I
winning sprinter Bounding.
"Exceed And Excel is one of the most coveted
commercial stallions in Europe and Kuroshio is both his best sprinting son at
stud and his most precocious juvenile yet. He's also Exceed And Excel's only Group winner at stud in Britain," said Simon
Sweeting, manager
of Overbury Stud.
"What's more, he's got the looks you'd expect of
an outstanding speed horse. I'm thrilled that the team at Darley have entrusted
Kuroshio to the Overbury team, and I'm really looking forward to showing him
off to breeders in the coming weeks."
Set to stand on a roster at Overbury that also includes Melbourne Cup winner
Dunaden, Kuroshio stood for $8,800 here in Australia this year and his UK fee
has been set at 3,500 pounds.
Exceed and Excel is already off the mark as a sire of sires, his first son to
stud Exceedingly Good, the sire of Group III winner Aimee and his Blue Diamond
winner Reward for Effort posting his first winner last week.
His triple Group I winning son Helmet has his first yearlings selling in Australia
next year and his best Northern Hemisphere bred son Excelebration (IRE) has
some stunning first foals born here this spring.
