Mikki Isle Breaks The Ice

Mark Smith - Sunday July 5

Three-season Arrowfield Stud shuttler Mikki Isle (JPN) has beaten his former stablemate Maurice (JPN) to the punch by siring his first winner at Hanshin on Saturday.

Mikki Isle (Mark Smith)

Sporting the colours of Sunday Racing, in a Newcomers race over 1200m on the dirt, Dualist had obviously shown plenty on the track as he was sent off an odd-on favourite Yuichi Kitamura.

After shaking off the frontrunner Yosshi Faith (South Vigorous), the son of Mikki isle (JPN) refused to surrender his lead to win by three-quarters of a length.

The Takayuki Yasuda-trained colt is the tenth foal of the well performed Dual Story who is a 4-time winning daughter of another Arrowfield shuttler, End Sweep (USA).

A son of Deep Impact, Mikki Isle won the Group 1 Mile Championship at Kyoto and the Group 1 NHK Mile Cup at Tokyo on the way to being crowned the Champion Sprinter and Miler in Japan in 2016.

His first Australian crop will hit the track in the new season.
