Honest gelding Jacquinot
Bay posted his second Black Type win
when taking out the Listed
MRC Lord Stakes at Sandown on Boxing Day.
Now with David Hayes and Tom Dabernig after
being previously trained by the late Guy Walter, Jacquinot Bay fought on
doggedly to win the 1800 metre contest by a short head taking his overall
record to nine wins from
28 tarts with
prizemoney topping $530,000.
"He raced well during the spring without winning, so it's a real thrill for the
owners and it's a great race to win," said Tom Dabernig, who indicated
Jacquinot Bay may look to defend his 2014 Listed Canberra Cup win in March.
Not offered for sale at public auction, Jacquinot Bay comes from the fifth and
final Australian conceived crop of the champion
sire Galileo.
He is the best of three winners for Last Tycoon mare La la Land, a half-sister to
stakes-winner Wake Me Not.
