First Stakes-Winner for Swiss Ace

Tara Madgwick - Sunday December 28
Australian bred Group I winning sprinter Swiss Ace retired to Westbury Stud in New Zealand and posted his first stakes-winner on Saturday at the Gold Coast when rank outsider Mywayorthehighway scored a surprise win in the Group III BRC Vo Rogue Plate.

Swiss AceThe favourite Hijack Hussy missed the start finding herself last in the big field before charging home out wide to beat all but the Mick Mair trained Mywayorthehighway, who revelled in the wet ground to win the 1300 metre contest by a long neck.

Purchased by her trainer for $25,000 from the Baramul Stud draft at Magic Millions after initially passing in, Mywayorthehighway has two wins and two placings from just five starts with prizemoney nearing $110,000.

She is the best of two winners from winning Zeditave mare More Assertive, a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Group I stars Assertive Lad and Assertive Lass, the dam of leading sire Reset.

A full brother to Mywayorthehighway was sold by Westbury Stud for $130,000 at the 2014 NZB Select Yearling Sale.

Mywayorthehighway is the first stakes-winner for Swiss Ace and is one of 12 winners for the son of Secret Savings (USA), whose oldest progeny are three year-olds.
