Leading sire Stratum has posted a couple of interesting winners in the past two days with classy three year-old filly Tawteen opening her autumn campaign with a win at Moonee Valley on Friday night and in-form stayer Averau claiming another victory at Flemington on Saturday.

An impressive stakes-winner at Moonee Valley during the spring, the David Hayes and Tom Dabernig trained Tawteen saluted as a short priced favourite when given a pipe opener in the 955 metre sprint.

Tawteen - Grant CourtneyTawteen was a $260,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Shadwell from the Widden Stud draft and has won five of nine starts earning over $250,000 in prizemoney with promise of much more to come.

She is the second winner for US Group III winner Sprung (USA), a half-sister by Grand Slam to Group I winner Tali'sluckybusride.

Widden Stud will offer a full brother to Tawteen at the 2015 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale as Lot 202.

A last start winner of the Listed VRC Bagot Handicap, the Peter Morgan and Craig Widdison trained Averau went on her winning way when scoring over 2000 metres by half a length.
