Aussie Bred Juvenile Winner South Africa

Tara Madgwick - Monday February 16
A homebred for Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, two year-old colt Baahir opened his account with a dominant win at Scottsville in South Africa on Sunday.

The Mike de Kock trained youngster raced away to win over 1200 metres by three lengths.

GalileoFoaled and raised at Coolmore for the Sheikh, Baahir is by champion sire Galileo, but bred to Southern Hemisphere time and is the first foal of placed Oasis Dream mare Canashito (GB), whose grand-dam Razyana is the dam of champion sire Danehill.

Canashito had a filly foal by High Chaparral last spring and was subsequently covered by Exceed and Excel.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum breeds with a number of mares in Australia and very nearly enjoyed a big result on Saturday when his Street Cry (IRE) colt Pride of Dubai failed by a short half head when second to Of the Brave in the Group II MRC Blue Diamond Stakes.

He finished hard and looks well suite by the 1200 metres of the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes on Saturday week.
