Denman Filly Makes Winning Debut

The very best way to promote the upcoming Inglis Premier Yearling sale is the quality of past graduates and the Byron Cozamanis-trained Our Vidia did her bit with an impressive career debut over 1000 metres at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

 Settled just off the speed by Damian Lane, Our Vidia charged home to defeat the Exceed And Excel filly Miss Idyllic by half a length with Reward for Effort colt Destiny's Reward three-quarters of a length back in third.

Our Vidia - Grant CourtneyA $135,000 purchase by her trainer from the Esker Lodge draft at last year's sale, the daughter of Denman is the third foal and first winner for the 4-time winner Desert Fairy (Desert Prince), a decedent of Swettenham Stud's influential Audrey Joan (GB).

A daughter of Doutelle (GB), Audrey Joan is the dam of the top class Group 1 winner Pure of Heart (IRE), Falmouth Stakes winner River Dane (FR) and the more than useful stallion Prego (IRE).

River Dane (FR) is the third dam of Desert Fairy who is a half-sister to Group II Magic Night Stakes winner Downhill Racer (Danehill Dancer).

Other stakes-winners in the family include Livelihood, Living Spirit, Only She Can, Schubert, Idol Worship, Happy Giggle, Pinezero and Gonski.

Denman has seven lots on offer at the Inglis Premier Yearling sale at Oaklands beginning on March 1.
