Invincible Winning Roll Continues

Tara Madgwick - Sunday February 22
I Am Invincible's star son Brazen Beau kicked off his autumn campaign with a sensational second placing to world champion sprinter Lankan Rupee in the Group I VRC Lightning Stakes at Flemington Saturday.

Purchased by Darley over the summer and due to retire to stud at Darley Victoria later this year, Brazen Beau looks primed for further success.

Having his first run since winning the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes in the spring for Chris Waller, Brazen Beau settled beautifully for Craig Williams in behind Deep Field and Lankan Rupee before accelerating strongly to the line.

I Am InvincibleWhile five-time Group I winner Lankan Rupee was in a class of his own in clocking 56.29 seconds for the 1000 metres, Brazen Beau gained much kudos for his game second and will be improved for the run and suited over the slightly longer sprints that are coming up.

"That was excellent!" said Craig Williams.

"That level of performance would see him winning at Royal Ascot – provided the winner isn't there! The 1000 metres is probably a bit sharp for him but he was very game, a lovely colt."

Set to stand at a fee of $55,000 at Yarraman Park this year, I Am Invincible is maintaining his momentum with a new winner at Gosford on Saturday in Lanikai giving him 35 winners from 70 runners this season – an impressive 50% winners to runners.

Prepared by Gerald Ryan, three year-old filly Lanikai scored by a length and a quarter over 1100 metres and is the fifth winner for River's Secret, a half-sister by Flying Spur to Group I MRC Oakleigh Plate winner River Dove, the dam of Saturday's Group II ATC Silver Slipper Stakes winner Headwater.

Lanikai was bred and offered for sale by Yarraman Park at Inglis Easter fetching $80,000 and Yarraman Park will offer her full brother as Lot 136 at the 2015 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
