Newgate Are Back in Town!

Tara Madgwick - Thursday February 26
A lot has happened in five years.

Five years ago Newgate was a boarding and selling operation. Stallions were a distant dream - Newgate's foundation sire Foxwedge was just a two-year-old making his way in the world on the way to the Golden Slipper.

Octavia Five years ago was, however the last time that Newgate presented a draft of yearlings at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale, and we are delighted to be returning to Melbourne in 2015.

A look back at that sale of 2011 tells the story in terms of the quality graduates which Newgate is already turning out, year upon year.

Of the eight yearlings offered, six are multiple winners with the draft as a whole taking 24 races.

These tough campaigners are headed by the high-class mare Octavia (Holy Roman Emperor x Filming) winner of no fewer than five races, including the Gr.3 W.W. Cockram Stakes at Caulfield. Octavia was bought for $42,000 by Paul Moroney and trained by Mike Moroney to earn almost $380,000 for a large group of owners.

Newgate have returned with a formidable draft of yearlings of the highest quality. Newgate's director of sale Bruce Slade said, "We couldn't be more excited to be back in Melbourne for the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale. Some top-class horses have come out of this arena, and we're sending some outstanding types down. I am sure they'll be exceptionally well received by the buyers."

Our draft is listed below, with a quick overview of each quality offering - click here to see them all with images.
