Settled well back in the field by James McDonald, Exosphere showed a brilliant turn of foot to defeat Odyssey Moon by four lengths with Wolf Cry a further two lengths back in third, which he gained on protest from Mogador. (photos Lisa Grimm)
After pulling up distressed when last at Rosehill back in November, Exosphere showed he was well above average when winning a maiden at Kembla Grange on February 14.
"He showed a lovely turn of foot," winning trainer O'Shea said.
"We're mindful of the opposition but we'll see what James thinks of him.
"He was always a really nice horse early doors, he trialled the same day as Furnaces and they both won by six, Furnaces won his race and this fellow didn't have a good day at the races.
He's always been highly thought of by the team and it's nice for Sheikh Mohammed to have a couple of nice Lonhros in the team."
"At this point I wouldn't be giving him another run, we'll head straight to the Slipper."
Bred by Darley, Exosphere is the second foal of the multiple Melbourne winner Altitude.
A daughter of Danzero, Altitude is out of the stakes-placed Marscay mare Highest.
Altitude has a filly foal by Bernardini (USA) and was bred back to Reset last spring.
Exosphere becomes the 50th stakes-winner for Lonhro who has just two yearlings catalogued for the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale which commences on March 1 and 13 lots catalogued for the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
