Australian
bred Haradasun colt Harry's Son, the Champion South African 2YO Colt of last
season, was back in the winning groove at Turffontein on Saturday taking out
the Group II Gauteng Guineas.
Trained by Paul Lafferty, Harry's Son took the 1600 metre feature, which is the
First Leg of the SA Triple Crown, by half a length and has now won four of 10
starts.
Harry's Son was a $60,000 purchase at Magic Millions from the Glenelg Park
draft by James Bester for owners Phil Georgiou and partners.
Bred by Cranton Bloodstock, he is a half-brother to stakes-placed Henry of York
( also a winner in Durbanville on Saturday) and is the fourth winner for Anabaa
(USA) mare Dash on Ruby, who comes from the family of South African Group I
winners Ruby Clipper and Seventh Rock.
Dash on Ruby has a filly by So You Think and was covered by Pierro last year.
Harry's Son was part of an international stakes double for the now New Zealand
based Haradasun, who also had five year-old gelding Taiyoo successful in the
Group III SAJC Lord Reims Stakes at Morphettville.
