Ridden by Peter Hall for trainer Grant Williams, Delicacy had the run of the race before accelerating away to win by three and a half lengths from Big Brown filly Neverland who finished fast from the rear of the field with Keysbrook (So Secret) a length and a quarter back in third. Owner-breeder Bob Peters said it was the ride that won the race.
"It was a very good ride by Peter but it was also a very good run by Neverland," Peters said.
"I was a little bit concerned with Neverland, she just wasn't happy today but she still ran well.
"He (Hall) got the perfect sit, we asked him to go forward and if you can get a chance to slot in, slot in and he did and everyone did the right thing by us.
Delicacy takes her overall record to 5 wins, 1 second and 2 thirds from 9 starts for earnings of $336,800.
Delicacy is the second foal of the winning Scenic mare Simply Wicked a daughter of the Marauding mare Street Talk who won four stakes races in Melbourne and is a half-sister to Listed stakes-winner Palladium Star.
Simply Wicked has a 2yo gelding by Beneteau named Universal Law. Her 2013 colt foal by Beneteau died but she foaled a full brother to Delicacy last September.
Simply Wicked was bred back to Blackfriars last spring.
